1/4: 6.92

6.92 Miles/6.92 Miles Total

My New Years Resolution is to run 1,000 miles in 2013. Some friends advised against it, for fear that long distance running is bad for your knees unless done in moderation. Some friends understandably doubted my ability to focus on a goal for an entire year. My mother told me, more or less, that a thousand miles is for pansies, and reminded me that she, at 64 years young, did a thousand miles last year.

I'll be using this blog to log my miles, track my status, and possibly journal about different running related thoughts.

I didn't have an ideal start to my new years resolution. I attempted to make up for it today by running my medium loop. The loop takes me down Las Olas Blvd, which is the main street in downtown Ft. Lauderdale. It is lined with shops and restaurants that are full during business hours. Las Olas dead ends into A1A, which I stay on for 1.3 miles to Sunrise Blvd., which cuts back across the intracoastal. It's a decent run that ends by running through Holiday Park and Victoria Park neighborhood.
